Abandoning ASDA

I must admit, here in "T' North" ASDA seems to be ok. The one nearest me is a HUGE store and always seems to have a lot of stock on the things that I want, and the staff seem nice...
My major fault with ASDA is that their prices always seem more expensive than Tesco on "economy" items, such as their potatoes, their cheese, etc etc... And also the quality on everything thing that isn't named brand seems to be very low. I bought lettuce, tomatoes etc to make salad for a few nights over the week... I got 1 nights out of it before the tomatoes went fluffy...
My other problem with it is, being next to the trafford centre, it is full of chavs and their children... Ugh.0 -

Surely they can get someone to look after them for an hour e.g. the dad stays at home with the children while mum does the food shopping in peace. My friend is a single mum and her mother looks after her two children while she does the food shopping. I would never take my young child food shopping with me, he hates shopping at the best of times so it's easier for me and easier for everyone else.
Ugh! I'm a single parent, my Dad died four years ago after an accident, my Mam is housebound with two bad hips and my brothers live miles away. Some people really do have no choice!
As for Asda, I dislike the shop more and more. Unfortunately I have no transport and it's the only supermarket in our town. I noticed all the packs of pre-prepared veg and soup packs, stew packs etc. I don't need to pay somebody to chop it all up for me when I'm quite capable of chopping it myself!Saving as much as possible to replace all the things I've had years and are on their way to the knackers yard :eek:0 -
I went to our Asda today for the first time in about 3 months, unfortunately ours is slap bang in chav-land and I also noticed that they have also replaced loads of the fresh fruit and veg aisles with pre- pack stuff.
They have also made the shelves higher where the fizzy drinks and pre packed foods are,so they can get more on there.
Luckily I only wanted one particular thing so I was in and out as quick as possible.0 -
Im going to promise never ever to shop in tesco on saturdays again and do any shopping in the week. This morning was manic at the tills, being a saturday theres usually more checkouts open.0

I was in an awful Asda's one day when visiting my brother and a small child summed up how I felt perfectly when he screamed to his mum at the top of his lungs 'I hate this shop'.0

I avoid taking the kids and avoid weekends, shopping is then bearable but asda isn't. I hate asda, but i think it's because the local one to me is in a grim location! They definatly stock to suit the local area.
Dh drives by a new asda on the way home from work and loves calling in at random times and finds it an ok experience! But it's on a new site, with lots of other lovely shops and caters mainly for those commuting In and out of the town.
If I had to choose tho, I would go to asda over farm foods or Iceland any day, those 2 realy are far worse! The local lidl is a dream, it is always empty, in and out in minutes!!Not in debt and it WILL remain that way!0 -
I just shop online and save all the hassle
No chavs, music or buggies :T

My monthly big shop is always on line. It is much easier getting someone else to bring your shopping in from the car! I always tend to overload on booze then!!:rotfl:Not in debt and it WILL remain that way!0 -
All the Asda stores that I am aware of in the south are sited in deprived areas. They take full advantage of that customer base, and sell processed food cheaply. Also this business of roounding up to £1, or £2 makes everything seem like a bargain if you can't do basic maths.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

The in-genius 33p each or 3 for £1 deal?
I actually do as much shopping as I can in places like farm foods and Quality Save. A lot of the people in my area think they are snobs, so won't shop there, so they are always dead, the staff are nice (due to not being stressed by pompous a** holes... and the prices are good haha.
I then just go to Mr T for the things I have to... Although I get in and out as quick as possible... Due to getting annoyed when people get in my way. (Due to working shifts, I forgot it was Saturday yesterday, went at midday and nearly had a break down wanting to yell at the grandmothers club who had stopped in the middle of the main isle to chat).0
