computer novice - help needed please

ok, this is probably a stupid question, but as i dont know the answer please excuse my ignorance.
when i leave my computer idle for a while the screen goes black. how do i set it so that this doesnt happen.
its not a problem most of the time, but sometimes my little daughter likes to watch movies and it would be easier if I could turn off this feature while she is using the computer.
many thanks

It'll be your screen saver and/or power management. You need to disable it or set it to a longer time than it would be left while watching a movie etc.
If you want specific instructions, just say what version of Windows (assuming it is Windows) you are running.... XP, Vista or Windows 7.

If you go into Control Panel and check the power settings.
You'll have 2 settings, 1 for the screen and one for the hard-disk.
You can either increase the time before they switch off or set either/both to never.
