Just as im about to go and see the Clio i get told its been sold

Any advice on Ford Ka's or other cars i should be looking at as someone mentioned korean or japanese cars.

Ford Ka - It's a Fiesta that's been made even cheaper. That and they rust between the numberplates.

Pick them up for chips! 1.3 motor and still low insurance.

I'd have looked at the Corsa above and knocked them down a bit. Upside of buying from a dealer? Bit of come back f it goes wrong. Downside? Paying £700 for a car they paid £200 for. Not sure I'd be happy in a £200 car.

Earlier ford ka's were known to be little rot boxes (sills specifically)
They also suffer with seized spark plugs (which is not a fun fix).
The engines were generally reliable on the old pushrod types.

I'd have suggested a panda but i'm not sure you'd get one at £1k.

My first car was a big old volvo too (nearly 20 years ago mind), was cheap to insure too.

Interritus

They are broadly, similar, at that age you need to inspect and drive them on the same day if you can and check if anything needs rectifying, as tyres, service and paintwork could be the car's value again.

What would you suggest to offer on the Corsa. The seller has already knocked £100 off when i emailed them for more information. Current asking price is £1000.

Have a look. suck teeth. Does it need a service? Does it need tyres? Any advisories on the MOT that will need looking at?

does it get hot? does it cool down again? when were belts last done etc etc etc.

I'd be tempted to wave £850 cash at them, have it in your pocket. hard to turn down if you can see the money.

That said, knocking money off before you've done any of the above is slightly out of the ordinary!

Got a 2000 model with only 55000 on the clock, full service history, 12 months MOT.

Indicators seem fine so far lol
