Hi there
looking at buying either a dark blue or black composite front door for our house which gets the sun all day.
have heard some reports of them warping, splitting - has anyone had one of these doors in a similar position and been OK/had problems?
thanks

I have one in dark brown that is south facing and it has been in place 5 years
only problem with it is in summer when the sun hits it from 6am, when you open it fine when you close it it wont quite meet until its cooled down.
its a pain and I wish I had a white one.
OH hammered the plate in the door frame a little and its better but still on the sunniest days it has to be cooled down (wet cloth and opened in away from the sun takes 3 or 4 mins) or just use the front door:rotfl:
no splitting or fading though63 mortgage payments to go.

Hi,
I am actually on my 2nd Black Composite door in about 2 months! The first one warped at the top, and the second one similar things happening. I have just ordered another door (from a different company) and this time am going for white as i too am South facing. I know that the black looked really nice and just hope i like the white one as much, but i do feel that the black is a bit of a 'in fashion' thing at the moment.
I also notice how hot and how much a black composite attracts the heat if we have a sunny day.I have heard other people complain about the same issues and funny enough they all seem to be the black doors!
I am also looking forward to my new door being the same colour all round as i don't particularly like the white edging on a black door when you open it.
Hope this helps you decide..0
