Help needed: Ballpark figures for double glazing this lot?

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can help, am needing to install double glazing on the whole ground floor of a house we've just moved into. Also going to replace the doors which have narrow windows either side.

Trouble is I haven't even a ballpark estimate of what to expect - so if I get a quote of £1000, £10000 or £30000 I don't know what is a reasonable amount.

Can anyone review the windows and dimensions below to let me know roughly what I should be expecting? (these are the window dimensions, some can be divided into several panes if cheaper)

Front Door

H 2.04

Back door

French Doors 1

Why don't you just ask a local DG company. Then, not only will you know the ball park figure, you will know the actual figure. You can then use this figure to compare actual quotes from other companies. There is absolutely no obligation to accept any quote that you may receive.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
  • More than £5k less than £10k (guess)

Advice is as above, minimum 3 quotes preferably from local recommendations

Recently going through the same thing. Our quotes ranged from 12.5k to 18.5k for uPVC or 23-26k for aluminium. That was without letting any of the big national companies (the ones who can advertise on TV) anywhere near our house.

I was shocked at how different the quotes were. We are going for a middle of the road quote.

Select a few local firms. I avoid 0800 numbers. Ask to see their work. Make sure quotes are for the same thing otherwise it is difficult to compare.

For A rated windows and composite doors, you should be able to get it done for £6K - £9K.
  • what area are you in? maybe a better tact would be to find a highly reviewed company in your local area, maybe through a site like checkatrade or similar. That way the quote might not be the cheapest but you know you will be getting a fair 'honest' price.
