TeleTop for Int'l Calls...

I used the Int'l Callchecker and liked the look of TeleTop, my understanding of it meant I would top up my landline with £1.50 by calling the premium line. Then I would call the access number and get free calls to France (0p per min) and the 5p connection charge would come out of the £1.50!!!
So I was wrong... I just looked at my BT bill and this is what it looks like:
14 FEB 17:48 0911 0332525 00:00:42 1.277
14 FEB 17:49 020 8180 2802 00:08:28 0.255
15 FEB 20:52 020 8180 2802 00:10:27 0.046
16 FEB 13:55 020 8180 2802 00:00:25 0.055
16 FEB 14:05 020 8180 2802 00:12:14 0.360
19 FEB 19:24 020 8180 2802 00:00:15 0.046
I've paid the top-up fee, and then I was charged 25p for my first call (shouldn't this be 5p?), then subsequent calls cost me from 4.6p up to 36p... I am confused!!
What happened to the 0p per minute?
I wonder if someone can explain this to me? In the meantime I'm going back to using DirectDial where I get calls to France for 0.5p per min!

You still pay BT the cost of the London access number, 3 pence a minute peak or just a connection charge off-peak
I didn't check the website, but it's perhaps it's worded in a way they can risk misleading - this deal would probably be best for people who have inclusive minutes packages on their landline.
You could still use up the remaining credit more gradually - just for off-peak calls that you expect to be over a few minutes long (because of the 2 connection charges), but still under an hour, when BT would charge per minute again.0 -
From the Teletop site.
"How do I pay for my calls?
Calls are rounded up to the nearest minute. You pay a 5p startup fee per call, plus the current rate per minute. Costs for the calls to our premium rate number(s) are settled via your regular (BT) telephone bill. The calls to the access number are charged at normal rate."
You get 90 days to use Teletop credit. The cheapest way to use it up is at Evenings and Weekends as indicated by Redux. BT will charge you just 5.5p to call the 0208 access number for up to 60 minutes.Teletop will charge 5p connection.0 -
Thanks guys... I did find it quite misleading and I read through all the FAQ's a couple of times!
Think I will go back to using DirectDial, much cheaper to call Mum in France.0
