    (playing on the www).

    it was bloody freezing!!
I would agree with this comment. Have had a conservatory for about 7 years, in Winter it's freezing (even with a double radiator and double glazed window with blinds) and in the summer my PC tells me it's too hot. I would've rather have got an extension. I am often here at night with fleecy and big socks cos of the temperature

So what would actually be the difference between an extension that looked like a conservatroy ie not just bunged on the side, and an extension? is it just to do with how they are built or is it to do with building regs? I was in my dentists this moring and they had a conservatory waiting room - all open through to reception, and it seemed fine, or are they paying 4 million pounds to heat it?

I had CH put into my conservatory and there was no problem or qusetion about permission etc. I queried this with my local council long before I had it built

Really? in what respect? underfloor heating or radiators GCH??

I've never heard of this and I know people that have heating in their conservatories. Could you clarify what you mean please?

Its not a simple question to answer but there's plenty of info in the internet. try starting here http://www.conservatoriesonline.com/heatq.htm

    Hi

I've had a conservatory for 6 years noe and I love it. I had underfloor heating put in, a beautiful proper wooden floor and central heating off the sytem connected. Its lovely and warm in the winter, I sit in it all the time, day or evening. OK. it gerts hot in the summer but open all the windows and vents and door open and its great. Lovely for entertaining! Go for it you wont regret it!

been having a look on other threads to see if any more ideas/info, and one thing I've seen mentioned a couple of times, but don't understand is 'dwarf wall' have looked on some conservatory websites, but still no idea?
  • my mother in law has a bit of both it is basically an extension so from kitchen and living room you can go straight into it and on the side of the house is a wall with two long frosted windows quite high up just for feature really, but on back of house its two doors and all windows so its a lovely view outside and the top is a conservatory top, i might not be explaining it very well but looks lovely and they have a radiotor in there, my father in law is a builder though so knows what goes and doesnt. hope you decide soon.

  • ormus any project managing tips is it as easy as you say.
  • we've had our conservatory for about 7 years. it has no dwarf wall, which means that the glass starts from floor level. i prefer it like this as it gives a better view of the garden and makes it feel more like part of the garden. our neighbours have a dwarf wall about 2-3ft high, which provides them with a window sill inside -more dusting and room for clutter to build up.
