Speaker problem with my laptop

My speakers wont play music out of them but when i plug in my earphones they play fine?

Perhaps the speakers are broken. Try making sounds happen various ways, e.g. YouTube videos, with iTunes, Windows Media Player. If none of these work it could be the speakers themselves. It's unlikely to be a software issue unless your laptop has an unusual sound hardware configuration.0

Just covering the obvious: different socket to the earphones? Do the speakers need a separate power source?
If "no" to both then probably bust........
You could try in another (friend's) computer?0 -
probably the microswitch at the rear of the headphones jack, so it's not switching back to the speaker channel when the headphones are unplugged....sometimes a squirt of WD40 and a GENTLE wiggle with a thin cocktail stick or similar can free it up, else the socket will need replacing......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0
