New V5C registration certificate for car

Any idea why DVLA should send me a new one of these for no reason. I bought my car years ago. The document seems to be almost identical to the old except the new one has a more reddish rather than blue front.

Now a new driving licence would be useful.

I had a new one too. Mine came with a letter saying that they are all being re-issued in red as a batch of the old ones had 'fallen into the hands of criminals'!

if you look in the envelope, its there, the accompanying letter, explaining why youve got a new style logbook, incidentally, 2 pallets full of logbooks that were dispatched for shredding by dvla didnt make it to the shredder, thats the reason, the serial numbers can be checked via dvla.

Whoops - perhaps I misquoted the DVLA! On reflection, no longer have the letter, it may have said, 'could fall into the hands of criminals'. Defo remember the word 'criminals' though.

Why were they sending 2 pallets of unused logbooks to be shredded?

I was always under the impression that the blanks were stolen between being printed and being send to the DVLA.

Yes, it found the way into my bin Doooh! They mention the 'theft of a number of blue blank V5Cs.

The important bit is that they tell you to destroy the old blue one!

No doubt a few will find their way onto Ebay!
