Yeah we are fortunate. There are 2 meat factories near us that cut and pack for the big supermarkets. When they get overstocks, they end up in the discount meat shop. You never know what you might find, e.g cold and wet weather in the summer and there are BBQ packs galore 10 for £5.
Last month I got 3lb beef roasting joints for £3 each....
    I eat well:cool2:

I suggest buying fresh mince and freezing it yourself. Yesterday, Strathvale British beef mince in 500g packs was 1.89 in Lidl. All too often frozen mince is extruded grunge which disintegrates into a gritty mess.

Aldi's frozen Aberdeen Angus mince is fine.

    We use this:

I can't say I've ever found any 'crunchy bits'!

We buy costco chilled mince, around £13 a pack but
    divides up into 5/6 portions.

I had Morrison's Basics 1KG bag of frozen mince, it tastes ok in a chilli. It was 89p on clearance, wish I bought more!

I have just started to but the large bag of sainsburys frozen mince. I don't personally eat it as don't eat red meat but I have been pleased how it cooks and family says it tastes lovely. Ideal to just take out and cook when needed for Spag bol, lasagne, cottage pie etc. Also don't have to think about taking it out to defrost before going to work.
