Dell 1545 adaptor

Hi,
Bought a new laptop from Tesco in Oct 2010 and warranty ended only last month - when unfortunately the adaptor started behaving strangely.
Connected to the socket, no light comes on. I replaced the fuse to see if it made any difference but no difference. The laptop itself is fine.
Googling shows that it is a common problem for this specific model.
Surely, an adaptor should last longer than 1 year? If so, do I have the rights to get it repaired or replaced free of charge?
Many thanks in advance!

It really depends on why the thing has stopped working.
Have a read of MSE's Consumer Rights article for details.0 -
Many thanks for your post (sorry it took me a while to get back online!) - according to the article, first port of call is Tesco then??0

Legally speaking your only port of call should be Tescos but often manufacturers can be happy (and quicker) to help.
No harm in trying them both.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
If they do agree to have a look, which may take weeks to get them to agree to do so, then you'll probably have to send the whole laptop to them knowing Tesco.
Isn't it easier just to buy one for £6 from eBay?0 -
Are you sure it's the charger? Often it can be the charging socket instead.
You can try going for Tesco, however broken chargers are quite common and normally user mis-use, so don't be surprised if they don't bend over backwards to help.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0
