Can anyone recommend a brand of rechargeable batteries I need them for my camera which takes 4 AA batteries its a Fuji Finepix s5700?

I have tried vapex 2900 mah cells and I after reading how great they are supposed to be I feel a little disappointed after a full charge and having been left in their box for a couple of weeks they seem to have lost a fair amount of charge when placed in camera and too be honest they discharge quite quickly when being used well my old Samsung a6 did eat batteries with a passion,Duracell standard non rechargeables would last about half an hour and I had to have the screen swiutched off to conserve power.
So if anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated
Also if anyone could advise a good charger at a decent price,at the moment I have a Jessops

Sanyo Eneloop are the best - Shop around for the best price BUT beware as there are some fakes on ebay.

I tried some vapex too as they were cheaper but they are rubbish.

There is a known fault in some fuji cameras where the batteries are drained even when the camera is off.
Do a web search for "Fuji Finepix s5700 battery drain"

I had a Fuji S7000 and sent it back to Fuji for a free repair as that model was affected by the battery drain problem too. I could leave the eneloops in it for a month then fire off 400 shots no problem.

Eneloop or maybe 7dayshops's Good To Go ones for a cheapie. Make sure they are the Low Self Discharge type - Eneloops are. These also have a stable voltage so even though then may have a lower capacity than others, they actually power the camera for longer.

I've got 3 sets of Uniross Performance 2700 & they are fab, seem to last forever... I bought these because they came out tops in a 'gadget show' test.... I'd highly recommend them...

Sorry, but that's just not true. It depends on whether you want good shelf life or pure capacity. Types such as the Panasonic Infinium (now called Evolta) have very low self-discharge rates, but have below the best overall capacity.

If you search this forum for previous posts on this subject you'll find some real-world tests that suggest that neither Sanyo nor Panasonic (nor indeed any other commonly-known make) give the "best" performance.

Yes but standard Sanyo Eneloops are only 2000mAh, whilst the latest Eneloops called Eneloop X are 2500mAh and are the dogs-you-know-what.

OP, you definitely need go for a low discharge battery with the highest capacity (2500mAh). You can either go for the Eneloop X or go for the Ansmann Max E (high quality german eneloop X types battery. I'm using 4 AA Ansman in my Fujifilm HS20 and they work like a dream...highly recommended! (just have a look at Amazon reviews):

I use these. Cheaper than eneloop, about the same as hybrio which I also use.

Very slow discharge and no problems with any kit I've used them in
When cycling, I pay the same road tax as any other zero carbon emission vehicle.

I would also highly recommend those, I use them in a Nikon compact I tried several makes and types of rechargeable AA batteries and they last far longer than any others.

So far everyone is posting which batteries they think are the best, however no battery will perform well unless a good quality deltaV charger is used. I'm guessing that the OP's Jessops charger is not this type? These chargers do not have to be expensive e.g. here but they will ensure that you get the best out of your batteries whichever you choose.
