Shoes falling apart after 3 months

Hi Folks
Wondered where I stood on this one.

Bought some nice Cat boots in early December from Schuh in Oxford Street, London.

They've now just started to fall apart around the eyelets.
Actual tearing and the material coming away - to the point that a few more wears and they'll be pretty useless.
I wondered if I still had any rights at this stage?

Obviously you'd hope that £55 boots would last longer than that but is there anything I am able to do before I attempt to take them back and waste my time.

Thanks for your help

I'd just take them back - I had a pair of Fly London shoes which I returned to Schuh after 6 months as the heels had holes in them and I was given my cash back with no questions asked.

You still have rights and it's reasonable to expect a pair of shoes to last longer than three months. Take them back and ask for a remedy under the SOGA.

I remember back in the 70s, I think (maybe early 80s), the shoe shops were saying that 3 months was a perfectly acceptable life-span for shoes! Common sense did eventually prevail.
  • I am taking my daughter's leather Vans back to Schuh. Had them 6 months and the leather at the side has split.
Not what you expect when paying £48 for a pair of shoe's which are only worn for school!

    Will see what happens!

surely if they are ripping at the eyelets that would suggest overtightening of laces
especially as you are saying they are ripping out

Just to update you, I took them back yesterday & Schuh could't have been more helpful, they advised I could choose another pair of shoes as they no longer had original ones in stock, when we couldn't find anything else that suited we got a full refund.

    Great customer service:j
