EDF Useless!! Dont switch to them
I switched our gas & electricity supply to EDF last year to get a cheaper fix rate.
The electricity billing was changeover no problem.
But after the gas supply was switch on 12/10/2011 I'm still waiting for them to complete the task & give me a bill. I've emailed them & made countless phone calls to customer services who just give me apologies. I have managed after some effort to be transffered to more 'Senior' staff who have given me yet more apologies & promises that they will look into it & get it sorted for me.
And while this is going on they are charging me for gas they are not metering & I suspect they are charging me too much based on what I paid with my last supplier.
To make me even more irate I have recieved a letter from Steve Hayfield EDF customer services director telling me how they are 'Raising standards and improving service' He has obviously lost touch with the front line.

You're paying a direct debit (yes?), presumably for an amount you agreed with and are happy with. What's the problem? How can they be charging you too much? Write them a letter telling them you exist and would like a bill, end of. If they don't send you one that's their problem, and if they don't send you one for long enough then you'll be getting free gas. Celebration! Make sure you keep your changeover meter readings (and closing bill from the previous supplier) until you have a bill in hand.0

Yes I'm paying by direct debit.
If I'm paying too much I'd rather have the money in my bank account not theirs.
If I'm paying too little I dont want to suddenly get a large bill.
And yes they are well aware I exist.0 -
But you know if you are paying too much or too little-all you have to do is read the meter, calculate the usage from your opening read, put the figures into a comp site with your tariff and postcode, and it will calculate your bill. 2 minutes work.
You can then request an adjustment to your DD if necessary. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
