Hello!
Thinking of moving to a different house, rental. Its got an aga. Never really thought anything of it until I realized the running costs could be high.
Has anyone got any advice for us, my oh nearly fainted when I was reading the aga website and usage is about 51 litres a week in oil.
I've no knowledge of ranges so I'm confused and in a bit of a panic, love the house but cost of the blinkin cooker will sway us against it.
Its a cream 4 oven classic aga, only a few years old. Is it going to cost us a fortune, do I need it on all the time, over the summer, do I buy a tabletop 2 ring cooker???
Help!
Thank you x

Yes they do use a lot of oil, most of my customers who have them also have electric ovens as well for summer use,is their space for a slot in oven? the aga will heat the kitchen and rooms leading of the kitchen during the winter.0

I'm unsure about a slot. Are they all generally oil/gas and electric? Can I just switch it on as and when or does it need to be fired up all the time?
Sorry to be so thick0 -

Some of the more modern gas Agas have the Aga Intelligent Management System which allows it to power down when you are at work or asleep.
The traditional range can stay on tick-over allowing you to slow cook but can't be switched on & off in the way I think you mean.0 -

If its gas and hasn't got the intelligent heating system you are looking at around £400 a quarter I believe in gas consumption and it has to be on 24/7, if you turn it off, from cold it takes 6-8 hours to get to cooking temperature.pinkfluffythings wrote: »1st prize for being the dumb irish girl!

Are you sure that there is no other cooker? I don't think I know anyone who doesn't have an alternative means of cooking.0
