Clear out - what to sell?

I want to have a clearout at the weekend, with a view to selling some of the stuff. Thing is, I can't think what of my old crap people might want to buy. I know designer clothes sell, but I don't have any of those. Any tips? This is going to be a one-off, so I'm not really competing with you regular sellers!

  • When it comes to eBay, nearly anything will sell. :) Stuff you might consider total junk, someone else might have a burning need for.

The best thing to do, is to see what you have got, then search for similar items, to see if anyone else is selling them. Also, if you use the Advanced Search, you can set it to search for completed listings as this will give you a good indication as to whether similar items have sold in the past and how much for.

Even if no one else is selling/or has sold the item, it is still worth a try. However, you need to try and take into account how much hassle the item will be to pack, get to the Post Office, etc. i.e. A large, awkward item that might only fetch 99p, might not be worth the hassle. ;)
  • Any nice books? Hardbacks?
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

    I've been Money Tipped!
Mostly non-fiction paperbacks, to be honest. Although I have got a few horsey hardbacks.
I find it really hard to sell books, i get really attached to them!

All my books go to Amazon marketplace.
Good quality stuff is sold on ebay - e.g. complete kids toys, old computer games, DVD's etc.
Heavily used stuff to car boot sales. The buyer can then see the condition before buying.

Amazon will normally get you the best price but you have to wait till a buyer comes along. Followed by ebay with car boots sales used for getting rid of clutter.
  • I found software discs (microsoft works etc) sell quite well on ebay - got rid of a load of old ones recently, most of them I didn't even know what they did!
