Holiday Booked, but now pregnant

Hi,
I booked a holiday with Thomson going on 11th September, but I've since found out I'm pregnant and am due on the 12th September! There's obviously no way I can go, but I'm wondering whether I'll be able to get my deposit back? We're insured with RBS. Has anyone any experience of this? I'm thinking that Thomson will tell me to take a hike, but wondering if the travel insurance will pay out? Its kind of a medical reason for not being able to go. We paid the full deposit which was £350. I've not contacted either company yet as I'm waiting for my 12 week scan on Wed, just to be on the safe side.

You need to check the policy, most won't cover for pregnancy as it is not an "unforeseen illness" (eg you could have avoided it :-))
If it is a package holiday Thomson should let you change your dates for a fee, or investigate name change fees and see if you can get someone to take it over
congratulations0 -
You should be able to claim on your insurance policy, I have for the same reason and it wasn't even so close to my due date.
To say you wouldn't be covered because 'it could have been avoided' is simply not true.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Looks like I was talking rubbish - apologies
The forum I was reading was related to someone that was choosing not to travel due to pregnancy but was within the allowable flying period and the insurance refused to pay anything
This obviously does not apply to the OP...I am hanging my head in shame0 -
Proof of head hanging and 100 lines "I will not talk gibberish again" hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world :cool:0

This happened to me a few years ago - we simply transfered our booking to another holiday after the baby was born and as a goodwill gesture Thomson waived the admin fee.0

The number of people asking this question in staggering, flicking through those Thomas Cook brochures must be a real aphrodisiac.
To protect your holiday and your hard earned money the following link might be useful, failing that a friend of mine swears by a Red Setter that sleeps on the bed!

Have they investigated and tracked down who is responsible yet? If it's Thomas Cook as suggested has a reward been put out and a photofit published? This is serious not Friday afternoonitis, honest.0 -
I had exactly the same issue last year (but the First Choice arm of Thomson). I could change the holiday to a different date and destination from any of the Thomson holidays for £35 each (and add my new infant if I wanted). Alternatively I could also change the names for an additional £35 each, so my parents are now off to Lanzarote in April instead of our holiday to Crete in September.
Just call them, they should be really helpful!0 -
Cheers for all the responses guys. I think we're going to see if they'll move it to June next year and take the baby with us :-) Was meant to be our honeymoon and we're moving that to June next year.0
