Hi
I am looking to start up my own website. I'm not the most computer literate person on the planet.
I know you have to have hostings but am not sure what they do or how they work. On my site i would like to have a forum, etc......
How hard is this to set up?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

The amount of difficulty depends on an individual's capabilities. So to find out how difficult it is - have a go. Maybe your ISP provides free webspace you can use to play around with a website of your own to see for yourself how easy or difficult it would be.
Certainly the Internet provides loads of help, tutorials and free code samples. Google for what you want to do and try a few out. Here are some to get started on:

Hi Jon
If you are just starting out it will take a while to build up a site and add a forum. I would say your best option is to get a free forum (normally with ads) or pay annually for an ad free one.
Try looking in google for free forums, there are loads available. I use ezboard.com for mine. (not free) I am not saying it's the best, I am sure there are loads better, but it's suits me.
I use icdsoft.com to host my site, and domain name. The host is bascially the space on the web your site is on. I design the site in dreamweaver then upload to there. There are many many hosting companies around, and alot depends on the size of the site you wish to create and the traffic you will have, for what package will suit you. Many have wizards & page builders which make the job much easier if you are starting out.
Good luck!0 -
Thats brilliant. Thanks for your help

I am no expert but have a few sites, one is very big... just wanted to add you will probably have loads of questions, so don't worry about asking. If I can't help someone else will. There are so many kind, experienced members here, happy to help.0

jonniek, don't mean to spam but the company I own provides hosting services, the standard package we do is below:
Web hosting for one year including 1000 GB/month bandwidth, 100 MB space, webmail, PHP/MySQL, phpBB plus more - £12
If you're interested or need any advice, give me a PM.0
