oh and there's a booklet thing that you can pick up in most receptions that has discount vouchers in the back! :money: it's normally about 10% at restaurants - better than a poke in the eye with a frozen pyslur! My signature has been removed by the authorities. I loved Iceland...I am now sooooooo jealous.
Blue Lagoon was fab and as jmarko said, sitting outside in a hotpot....bliss.
We did the Golden Circle tour, the cafe at the geysirs was pretty cheap. (well in comparison)
Have you had a look at the chat forum on Trip advisor?

Prte flight email detailing How to get to the airport, parking, what check in desks, luggage limits, all the check in stuff you need. And get this...... you can swap your flight anytime up to 3 hrs before the flight........... Then theres info for the other end.... bus, Taxi and hire car info... routes into town, Duty free info etc etc. Ryan air take note!! Fab service thus far........ hope we get there.......!I save so I can spend.0 -
try riding icelandic horses. Eldhestar (volcano horses) will pick you up from central Reykjavik and take you out to the apparently lunar landscape where you can ride around on the gorgeous little beasts (full protective clothing supplied). They have fantastic paces unknown anywhere else in the world
Also echo Blue Lagoon and local swimming, restaurant Caruso - excellent food everywhere.
BUT GOD ITS PRICEY
I'm going back in October -- work trip.....
can't wait0 -

We are back..............
Had a fab weekend eventually...... guess it happens to a lot of us at least once in a lifetime..... decided the hand luggage could all fit in one bag just before we left..... got to the airport.... no passports! Luckily we were there very early and managed to nip home and get back in time! Wife was not happy with my late bag change idea!!
Thanks to all the tips on here we had a great w/e.
Cheap car from Avis...... £72 for 4 days.
Walk around town on first afternoon....... getting bearings etc. There was a few things on for the lights festival. Meal in the Red Chilli bar and grill. Great burgers and beer. Its off the square behind Hotel Borg.
Picked up a fabbo tour cd at the tourist info...... absolutley brill idea. Sposored by Budget car hire.... Map and CD. Map has numbers on the routes which relate to the tracks on the cd..... brilliant idea. Followed the guide around the golden circle with commentary on all aspects...... amazing trip. 10 hours of natural beauty.... back for another good meal... Pizza at top of main shopping st. Excellant. Drove out of town to see the Northern lights which were amazing.
South coast drive to Vic on Saturday again following the cd guide..... another 10 hours of amazing scenery, waterfalls, glaciers, wild rivers, tranquel beaches, picturesque villages. Great sunset drive home along the coast. Went to Vegemot in the evening (thanks for the tip), More excellant service and food...... a final drink (well more than one....) in the Dubliner bar.... well Ireland did win and it was buzzing.
Blue Lagoon was great on the way to the airport...... until 5 x 30 something lads from manchester decided top bombing and mud fights were the order of the day despite the pool attendants efforts to calm them down! Still its so big we went to the other end of the lagoon and whiled away another hour in peace.
We stayed at the Foss Lind hotel which was just right..... walkable into town without the late night noise..... ask for room 109, its twice as big as the rest on the floor and at the quiet end of the corridor
Fully recommend Iceland for a short break, it was sunny all weekend which obviously helped. We didnt really hit the night scene but it was just taking off when we went back to the hotel at just after midnight. Will be back soon.
Take plenty of film / memory sticks for your camera. You will need it.I save so I can spend.0 -
