Hi
CLYDESDALE CARD FOR CAR, LES SMITH ETC
Just wondered if anyone could help out with this.
I wrote to Barclays Partner Finance on behalf of my son to claim back outlandish late payment fees incurred before 2006 and totally because they refused to change the payment due date.
I sent off the standard letter sayinf we wanted to reclaim the charges plus interest and quoting the OFT ruling.
We have today received a reply stating that the card he used (£total spent £250 ish total repaid to date (2k+) was a club card and was therefore not covered by the OFT ruling on credit cards but also stating that they vountarily agreed to abide with the ruling from 2008.
They have said they are crediting his account with approx £136 and sending interest in the form of a cheque for £59,
I had asked for all the charges prior to 2008 back plis interest that amounted in total to £1250.
I would welcome any advice or words aof wisdom as I think they are taking the p**s. The balance they have currently outstanding is still around £900.
Many thanks

Never heard of it. What is the exact name of the card? What precisely does it say the card is on the agreement? Is it some kind of charge card?0

it was a card taken out in the shop at the date of purchase. The slip they have sent to us states that interest is charged annually and it also states a credit limit this is on an application for it quoting the credit agreement is regulated by The Consumer Credit Act 1974. At the top is says Club Account.
I think it could only be used in either Les Smith or C.A.R shops and was run by Clydesdale Financila Servicesd at that time.If at first you don't succeed try, try, try again.

A club card is something Tesco give you to collect points on your shopping in Tesco. A credit card is, well a credit card ....
It looks like this may be a storecard. What is the first digit of the card number? 3, 4, 5 or 6?
Have never heard of a card which debits interest annually; sounds more like a mortgage account than a credit or store card. Also, how have you incurred charges of over £1250, paid over £2000 and still have an outstanding balance of £900 on an original spend of £250?0 -
You're not really helping yourself by drip feeding information and making assumptions that we'll know what your talking about. I don't know what C.A.R. is but I'm guessing Les Smith is Les Smith Supercentre, which appears to be something to do with Motor World. A search that I did found a thread here about a National Tyres club account run by Barclays Partner Finance that seems pretty similar to your situation, it may be of help to you, or it might help other posters work out what card you're talking about.0

thanks for your replies I can only tell you what they are telling us lol.
The annual percentage rate is charged on a monthly pro rata basis. The original spend was in 2002 and because of all the xdefault charges and interest etc plus he has been paying a reduced amount that he agreed with them the charges just go up and up. I am NOT drip feeding information.
Thanks for the link I will check it out an yes, Les Smith is an auto shop as is C.A.R but I think they are gone now and no longer trading. If at first you don't succeed try, try, try again.
