Never done this before

bought some seeds which I have to plant in 'seed compost' - just wondering -

what that is?

which is best?

and how does it differ from my miracle grow that I have for pots and baskets?

In other words can I just use that?

Thanks in anticipation

Seed compost is generally finer in form and the nutrients are not as strong. Some seeds are fragile and react badly to excess nutrients.

The vast majority of seeds will be fine and grow happily in whatever compost you have around.

I use multi purpose compost for my veg seeds, no problems so far.

I'm using non peat compost. It looks like woodchip (such large lumps). I have planted seeds in it, they have sprouted nicely. I'd not worry too much about it. Do half your seeds and if they don't thrive, you can always put some in nice premium compost if they really need it.

Thanks - well just feel like ugh _pale_at the moment - so the seed planting will have to wait a while. Shame as it is lovely and sunny just the sort of day for getting lots done

bit too late to the game, but they had 'cutting compost' in Lidl for £1 for a 20L bag, or £2 for a 40L bag of multi-purpose compost, not sure if they are still doing the cutting compost but the multi-purpose is still in stock where I am HTH

Thanks - job still not done yet. Still feeling rough and I have 300 snowdrops due to arrive that will need planting out - and the weather is now cold and wet - just my luck - seems like I will be out in the wind and raining planting then
