Claiming back PPI from Santander & Halifax

Hi
Back in 2007 I took out loans with Santander and Halifax, at the time I was pressured in to taking out the PPI with them saying that it would 'add weight' to my application. I informed them that I had a pre existing medical condition of diabetes, but I was told that this would not be a problem with the PPI should I ever have to make a claim in the future.
I have since heard that had I of made a claim the PPI would be of been invalid due to my health condition.
One of the PPI's was stopped in December 2010 - the Santander one, the most expensive one!
And the Halifax one is still running.
Can anyone clarify for me, if whether my medical condition will add weight to my reason for claiming back my PPI from both banks?
I started off the claim process direct with both today.
Many thanks

Who have you heard that from? Pre-existing conditions do not prevent you from being covered unless they are severe medical conditions. Depending on the type of diabetes you may well find the only exclusion is any condition arising from diabetes. Can anyone clarify for me, if whether my medical condition will add weight to my reason for claiming back my PPI from both banks?
If the insurer has told you that you are not covered then you have strong grounds. If a "man down the pub" told you then you dont.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
