All colleagues are trained to give out £2 gift cards for SEL errors and mis prices however the £2 gift cards and all other goodwill payments come out the stores bottom line p+l (profit and loss) so they can affect the colleagues bonus. There's quite a few that think they are doing the stores a favor by not giving out the giftcards and will avoid giving them out as much as possible.

Agree with you there SL. They do seem to make far more errors than the other supermarkets. I NEVER leave the premises without checking the till receipt as it is invariably wrong. However, after saying that, I was in there Friday mid-afternoon just as the assistant was marking a stack of meat down to a third of the original price - I grabbed quite a few items and religiously checked my receipt afterwards and, surprise surprise, all the reductions were correct!

"Invariably wrong" and "correct"? I'm sorry, but we can't have it both ways. :)

But, I spent 28 years in customer service, putting my physical and mental health on the line for the customer, and the rules are quite simple: get it right, first time, every time.

PS. BTW, I always get any small refunds put onto my ASDA savings card, which I then redeem at Christmas. Last year, I had just over £10.00 on it. 3 bottles of wine! It turns something potentially bad into something good.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)
