I was advised that the gift card was their policy but dont know if its always £2 or if its relative to the cost of the purchase. Its a first for me with Asda but will buy more eggs next week & try again

The gift card for being overpriced is always £2 but you usually have to ask for it...

If you bought anything with a yellow sticker and charged full or the first yellow sticker price (if it has been reduced again) - the refund of the difference and £2 also applies. I bought a box of prepared melon and grapes for 20p and was charged £1.50. So I got a gift card for £3.30!
  • The £2 gift card policy doesn't just vary from store to store, it also depends on which assistant is manning customer services in my store! I am overcharged on at least one item every week and sometimes I get the gift card and sometimes I don't! I wish Asda would inform ALL the assistants of the policy!!

ps old mother - if you find out which parmesan it is, then let us know!!

TA - if the won;t give you the card, ring customer services and they will send a card - I like to give the name for the CA and store too so they can 'address the training need'.

A refund and gift card is fine and dandy, but mistakes like this simply shouldn't happen these days. Yet ASDA seem to make them on a regular basis - like messing up the "3 for £10" wine offer on two consecutive visits. I have a bad feeling that this is indicative of much more systemic malaise within the firm.

  • Agree with you there SL. They do seem to make far more errors than the other supermarkets. I NEVER leave the premises without checking the till receipt as it is invariably wrong. However, after saying that, I was in there Friday mid-afternoon just as the assistant was marking a stack of meat down to a third of the original price - I grabbed quite a few items and religiously checked my receipt afterwards and, surprise surprise, all the reductions were correct!
