iMac repair under warranty

Hi,

For months now, the Mini Displayport on my iMac hasn't work. It just packed in one day and has never worked since.
Today the same thing has happened to the microphone and headphone connectors, which is much more of an issue for me, so I would like to get it fixed.

My iMac is still under warranty according to their service checker (it's a mid 2010 model)

However, despite me having purchased it online, to get it serviced they want me to bring it into the store. My nearest store is a couple of hours away, meaning the round trip would take me all day and cost me £50+ in fuel, and then I'd have to do it again in 2 weeks to collect it.

With it being bought online and under warranty, is there any right I have to make them collect it for repair?
I'd say even without the warranty I should be covered under the six year thing, as it cost £1500 it should last more than a year and a half before breaking.

Also, my iMac is my only computer and is essential for work. is it possible to rent something for two weeks whilst the Imacs being repaired to keep me going?

unless you paid extra for a collect and return serivce i doubt there is anything you can do to make them collect it, but i am surprised they havent given you the option of posting it to them.

as to laptop rental sorry but i have never heard of such a service and doubt it would be suiteable especially for work purposes due to confidentiality and security issues
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

AN RTB warranty is exactly that-you are responsible for returning it to them, if that is what is specified.

*Sigh* wrong board to ask. You should of asked in the Consumer board.

But since I'm here, you have certain rights under the Sales Of Goods Act against the retailer.

If it was sold with a 1 year warranty then the retailer has provide a solution that causes no monetary detriment to yourself (or as little as possible regarding phonecalls etc) and it mustn't cause significant inconvenience and a solution must be provided within a reasonable timeframe. The second last point also rely on the consumer to take reasonable action as to minimize the significant inconvenience.
