Nintendo Wii Isn't Working...Why?!?!?

Alright!

My son has a Nintendo Wii that's been workign fine until recently.

We got him a couple of games, one was a pre-owned and one was brand new. Both didn't work. Tried one of his old games and that worked. Switched off the Wii for ages, tried it later and now the old game doesn't work!

All that appears is the picture of the spinning disc and it doesn't actually load or do anything. I found a fourm in America in which people were reporting having the same fault and they were told to send it back to Nintendo who'd update it for a cost.

Has anyone else had this problem?!?

Thanks!

    I'm not sure! Probably not!

    How do I do that?!

    Thanks!

Try turning it upside down, i.e. so the slot loads with the silver unlabelled side of the disk upwards. That used to work when the PS laser stopped reading disks.

Connect it to the internet and it should sort itself out.

I've repaired Wii's with disc reading problems by adjusting the laser power. It requires taking the Wii apart and is a bit fiddly, but you should be able to find guides with a bit of googling if you wanted to have a go. Software updates don't tend to fix this in my experience.
