A bit of wood

I need a bit of wood (or something solid) to prop up something. It doesn't need to be fancy, just 300mm high, preferably 750mm long and roughly 40mm deep. An off cut would be great.

Can anyone suggest where I can acquire such a beast?

Thanks

Try your local wood yard, they will be able to cut you a piece to your measurements for a few quid all in.

Not all wood yards will cut for you in my experience (although maybe the couple I'm thinking of were more trade pick up places to be fair).

B&Q usually have a section where you can find offcuts or damaged pieces. If there is something suitable but the wrong size, they will cut it for you. I believe Homebase do the same.

If it is not fancy, then a skip. It sounds like something you could cut from a discarded worktop. Or if you find timber which will allow you to cut 2 of the dimensions, you may need to to a little nailing to put 2 pieces together.

As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.
