Unfortunately that is how a public forum works. Don't complain because the replies are not the one you might have hoped for.
Without actual consumption figures, you are just wasting your time.

Iit seems to me that the basic complaint here is that the poster believes they were mis sold the supply by being deliberately misled into believing they could not simply begin switching supplier.
What the poster said was that they had to go with NPower which they would have to do until the switch to another supplier. Nowhere has he said that he was told or was blocked from changing supplier. In fact the reverse appears to be the case as SSE advised him not to switch until the bill issue was resolved probably because he would have to pay the outstanding bill before he could switch.

The poster has said that meter readings were taken on moving in (and presumably can be again) so even if they haven't been posted here calculating consumption figures and a correct bill doesn't appear to be an issue to me.

Even if not specifically stated some things can be read from between the lines Spiro - as you also appear to have tried to do above - but not everyone will do so correctly. It seems to me that there is a significant difference between being told that you have to have their supply and should stay on an existing tarrif and having had the deemed contract / switching process and alternative tarrifs fully explained. Whilst it may be difficult for the poster to now prove exactly what was said (I suspect there will be no recording available) surely no reasonable person is going to seriously conclude that , having been fully and properly advised of their options, the poster then willingly chose the more expensive option of abandoning dual fuels they had previously used?

I take it your on their standard tariff, which will be the reason for high costs. Also what temperature is your new heating on, what type of property, size and please dont say small house and small to some is huge to others. What gas appliances also do you have?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

It seems that, regardless of tariff (although Npower's standard rates are horrendous) the main reason for a higher-than-expected gas bill is because of Npower's tier-1 structuring**. Although this does also mean that your Summer gas bill will be much cheaper than with another supplier, so can really even itself out.

Complaining to Npower about a bill that is high because they've billed your consumption accurately according to the way they bill their customers normally is a bit OTT, but I do agree that if you were given wrong information, the best step is to raise a formal complaint in writing - maybe with the idea of backdating the bill and applying a cheaper tariff (of course this option will probably come with a tie-in to Npower)?

Last but not least get comparing and switching soon!
