Any advice on Flashing tape pls?

Hello,
Still trying to sort out my conservatory flashing! The flashing appears to be in good order but I need the falshing to cover more of the rafter and possibly about 4-5 inches over the conservatory roof to ensure no water gets into conservatory.
Someone has mentioned flashing tape as a cheaper option. Will this sort of stuff last atleast 3 years? Is it a good alternative to extra lead flashing?
Please help, been trying to sort this out for about 3 months now!!!
