hi tessie  ok here goes
first off i buy spuds in the farm shop a 25kg bag is £4-£6 depending on the time of year and last us the month.
we buy 5kg chicken breasts form makro for £18 but we have used value chicken before, these breasts are massive and so tender, we split 3 between the 5 of us, 2 for a casarole and one for a pie
8 loves of bread (usually get YS or 70p lidl bread but i do cost this at £1 when doing a budget just incase)
value pork chops
frozen peas, sweetcorn and 2 bags of mixed veg, all value or next cheapest
frozen sausage rolls or ys ones depending on whats cheapest
2 packets of value mince (split 2 packs into 5 dinners and bulk with the value mixed veg)
2 packets of value gammon steaks, 3 of these does us gammon and chips (youngest doesn't like it) and teh other one goes in a pie
big 4 packet of bacon (these are £5 in tesco or £6 in sainburys and sainburys is nicer and you get more)
beef shin
2 boxes of egg or a 30 egg tray
value carrots, celery, alot of banana, 6 bags of apples, 3 punnets of grapes,2 bags of oranges, 2 bags of pears (try to get ys or go to the market- wee tip i used to buy clementimes but when the kids started school they quarter up and orange and they suck the juice out then bit the flesh off, they love it so we swapped to cheaper bigger oranges and they tend to share.
5-6 bottles of milk (we can get 2litres of milk for 90p or less if we shop around)
2 packets of sliced cheese and ham (2 for £3 ones)
4 4packs of value yogurts (these aren't bad me and hubby never really eat yogurts but when we have they've been ok abit watery, teh kids love them)
value pizza and 2 value garlic bread
value kidney beans
tinned/carton of tomatoes, iceland do 4 for £1 (i rarely pay any more)
tesco gravy
value wheatbix and porridge
beans (usually stock up on branstons or iceland do 4 for £1) tinned spagetti (value or again iceland and most supermarkets do 4 for £1)
big 1kg bag of pasta (discount brand or offers currently using amazon pasta)
value crisps (ready salted and assorted snacks)
2 custard creams
just popped all that into tesco and it comes to £68, plus £18 for the chicken and £6 for the spuds is £92tesco prices are dearer for some thing tho
meal plan...
7 chicken meals (usually roasted with spuds of some sort and veg on the side or wrapped in bacon)
chilli - (we use very little rice i buy a value bag every 3 montsh r so thats why i havnet included it)
spag bol X2
sheperds pie

wow u are very organised....we buy meat from costco and find it to be very good quality....chicken breasts and mince are great...thats a good tip with the oranges my son does the same i am on a mission to reduce the cost of pack ups...do u have home bargains where u are ?? they do cheapish crisps...do u use approved foods ? we have just done our second order and it seems good
thankyou for taking the time to do all that....very interestingonwards and upwards0 -
no we don't have a homebargains here and b&m just isn't as good as you all say hb are lol
tbh i think value crisps are the way to go for us, it means there some for the kids but we don't eat much there about 5p a packet, my kids get free school meals but we will prob lose that soon so we discussed it and i decided my buying wouldn't really change i'd just decant stuff for them
i've done a few approved food orders now but the postage to us is £12 so i need to do a big order to justify it and they seem to have went down hill.
would you try baking? scones and pancakes are fab for lunch boxes, as are wee pots of grapes or rasins (we buy value and decant) we use poundland sports bottles and fill them with water for the kids in teh car so much cheaper that juice or bottled water.DEC GC £463.67/£450

Can't do that this week - it's all fruit!
