Does changing password mess up wireless?

Hello can someone help me please? I am on AOL and have just changed the password on my screenname. Ever since I have had trouble getting online. Is that usual? Nobody told me it would mess anything up or else I would never have done it. Or is the problem unrelated to my changing the password?

if you have a router(belkin 834 or a like) you will need to change your password there...should be simple - al you'll need is to login to it and change it at dsl settings(look at the book that came with it - or call aoHELL for help)....

  • It is wireless because I run two laptops from it in addition to the desktop. The desk top is plugged into the router. I changed the password on my screen name and ever since I have had trouble getting online. Sometimes it works sometimes it will not.

    aaaahhhhh....
so are you saying that your deskop is connected to a USB modem and is sharing its connection through a router to the 2 laptops ?

its a perfectly sensible thing to do, but i seen many aol set ups like that that are not working at all, aol network protocols and standards are slightly differant then all the rest - which makes it hard to diagnose.
i know its not an answer to you specific question, but if i were you i would migrate away from aol. its free, and aol is one of the worst things you can do to your computer

Can you log on via the desktop that the modem is connected to?

What model number is it? Try putting http://192.168.1.254 into your browser to log into your wireless router.

Sometimes. Which makes me think it must be something else other than changing the password because then it would not work at all.

If you are using a wireless router, it is the router that connects to AOL and your PC's wired or wireless connect to your router. If you have changed your AOL password, you will need to log in to the router and change it in the connect set-up screen.
