Would you take a 10.5 year old to Jersey Boys

Hi there
I don't live in the UK anymore, but I am hoping that I can get your opinion on the above.
I have the option (if I am quick) to take my older DS who is 10.5 now and would be nearly 11 in April to see the Jersey Boys.
However the advice from the theatre is that due to 'authentic jersey language' as well as gunshots and violence, it isn't reccommended for anyone under 12.
I have read reviews that have said slightly older children enjoying it. I am not a prude and wouldn't be massively offended by some swearing, but if it was continuous I am not as sure.
The other options is that there is a one off concert by Frankie and the 4 seasons at about the same time, that I could take him to.....
Any opinions gratefully received.

ps i have read some reviews. If you read American ones about half of them mention the swearing and how offended they were. Yet if you read British reviews, no one mentions the swearing, including the Telegraph review of the show. Hence my confusion!

I went to see this a few weeks ago and there is a fair amount of swearing in it. HTH0

I saw it, granted in Las Vegas, at Xmas and it is the best thing I have ever seen.
I bought the soundtrack and have played it almost daily.
I didnt think the language was particularly bad...a few mild references to sex/and I honestly cannot remember anything particularly bad, at nearly 11 I would think it would be ok personally.0 -
Without a doubt is it a brilliant show to take a younger person to. There are a few times that there is swearing and a few adult themes but those generally will fly over their heads.
Enjoy the show!0 -
I've seen JB quite a few times. Personally, I don't think that there is THAT much swearing. There is one gun shot. I've seen young kids there before - Jersey Boys takes part in Kids week so it can't be that frowned upon.0

It's a fantastic show although there is some authentic language. How mature is your DS? I personally would have no hesitation, esp as children can easily feel left out.
I think he would love the show if he's familiar with the music, so get him listening to a Frank Valli CD in advance and he'll concentrate on the music side of things. Also, the show opens with "Silhouettes", if your DS knows this song he'll automatically be engaged with the rest of the show. Enjoy!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
"No man is worth, crawling on the earth"- adapted from Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio
Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

Although there is some swearing it's probably what he is hearing in the playground. Second learning the music first. My DD was about 15 when she saw it, was able to sing all the songs and it definitely made her enjoy it more.0

I saw it a few years ago and there is a bit of swearing but I think for a slightly more worldly 10 year old (under strict instructions NOT to repeat anything they hear) it would be ok.0

I have seen Jersey boys several times. Twice in Las Vegas, and three times in London.
Excellent show.
Except the Vegas show last year had a minimum age of 12. They seemed to have increased the number of times the F word was used. Probably fits in with the story but the increase was unnecessary.
Last saw it in London in November. The bloke playing Frankie seemed a bit 'shouty' but the music is superb.
I think the F word is used twice in the London show, I don't think your 10 year old will think anything unusual.
Even the soundtrack has the swearing
Go and enjoy it.
Mind you I wouldn't mind seeing Mr Valli live either.0
