halifax faster payment question

My grandfather is a Halifax customer and i am asking this question.on.his behalf. he needs to send a payment from.his account to another persons account. he doesn't have online or telephone banking ( don't think.he has ever used.an atm either!). Will they send this payment for him in.branch and will it go by faster payment? It is under the limit and to an account accepting fp.

Tried looking on.their website but can't find any.info.

You can't send a faster payment via the branch. You could send a chaps payment but that would cost you 25 pound. How much is he sending? He could withdraw cash and then pay in at relevant bank?

He is sending 8000. So the cash thing is not comfortable thing for a man in his 80s to be doing. so a payment in branch would go via bacs?

Yes not ideal to draw 8000 cash. He could get a bankers draft or send a CHAPS but would cost 25 pounds. Is it going to a Halifax account as that can be done instantly?

No it is going to a santander account.

I know its not the best way, but cheque book? Longer to process, but might be easier for him.

Why can't you send Faster Payments via branch in Halifax? I was under the assumption that since 1 January 2012 the Payment Services Directive has required that UK sterling domestic payments must reach the beneficiary’s account no later than the business day after the payment is made. I know Barclays hasn't offered BACS payments since then as they take longer than what is now allowed.
