Weight Watchers - am I missing something?

Over the years I've done a few different online diet things - Tesco Diets, WeightLossResources, FitDay, MyFitnessPal but this time around I thought I'd give Weight Watchers a go and I'm totally disappointed.

I'm doing the online option and find the functionality their online tool really poor - ie, I've added a recipe from their database into my "favourites", then when I go to add it in my food diary, the instructions don't show, so in effect I'd need to go and find the recipe in the database again. There are also only 500 recipes in their database, and loads and loads of everyday food items are missing, so you have to faff about getting the nutritional info off of labels left right and centre and adding them manually...

Am I missing something? Or is WW just better not online?

I'm currently breastfeeding my 11 week old DD, and WW is one of the only diets suitable for bf-ing ladies, but I feel robbed of the £30 I paid to get set up on it.

Sorry for the rant, but I feel like I'm either missing a trick as I really can't see why so many people rate it.

Tbh - If you are breastfeeding - you need to be very careful about diet! Breastfeeding alone can cause wieght loss - and as someone whose GP actually advised her to stop breastfeeding as I was losing too much wieght...........you may not even need to diet!
What the old wives say is true - you are eating for two! you need to consider that what you eat is what baby is eating the next day - if YOU dont eat healthily then the baby will - at the expense of yourself! Because the breast milk draws on YOUR bodies resources - and if you dont renew those resources - then YOU can become ill!
so before you think of dieting - consider that your baby NEEDS you to maintain a good healthy diet that will maintain BOTH of you!
  • I've just had a look and I don't understand what you mean. When I add a recipe from my favourites onto my tracker and then click on the recipe it comes up with ingredients and then a button next to "ingredients" called "ingredients and notes" brings up the instructions.

To be fair, the weight watchers breast feeding plan is more a healthy eating plan than a diet.

  • Thanks, but I carefully researched what I should and shouldn't do in terms of dieting and breastfeeding before I signed up to WW. In fact, I probably eat more with WW ;)!

It does sound quite complex, maybe the oldfashioned off line paper version is better?

Eating for two is a myth when pregnant, a tiny baby does not need the same amount of calories as an adult //this does not include chocolate obviously//.

WW breastfeeding plan allows a large amount (500?) of extra calories for those breastfeeding which should be enough to keep mum healthy.

But seriously, at 11 weeks post-partum your body is just getting back to normal, more weight will probably drop off naturally over the next few months and once LO starts crawling even more when your chasing around after them:-)
