SNAD item: can I phone ebay?

Bought a pressure washer described as used (manufacturer refurbed catalogue return). Item arrived missing main handle you use to wheel it round.

Contacted seller who was unhelpful but eventually offered £10 refund so I could buy a handle, which I accepted.

I was just about to order a handle from main manufacturer when sixth sense told me to hang fire, and test the unit. Connected it all up & it produces LESS pressure than a garden hose!

  • Messaged seller - not interested
  • Escalated it to dispute, and we are at the "try & sort it out with the seller" stage.
  • Tried this, but his messages have now become abusive, eg "Move on & grow up - its not the end of the world"
  • He also suggests I've broken the item and am acting fraudulently
  • Messaging him further will achieve nothing, so I wish Ebay to get involved asap.
  • Unforunately Ebay's dispute centre makes it appear that the sellers last message offered a solution - clearly not!
  • Anyone have phone number for Ebay?
  • PS I'm £30 plus p&p down, as that's the net cost of this item which doesnt work at all. Not a big deal I know, but the principle offends me
Thanks for any help. ;)

Ebay dont just step in and sort it out for you...you have to escalate it to a claim and you cant do that until 8 days have passed.
Then, if you have no joy with the seller, Ebay will just tell you to return the item for a full refund. As you have already got £10, use that to return the item. You must return the item back recorded, so that you have a signature.
You then put the tracking number into the dispute and once youve done that and Ebay can see the signature, they will refund you.
  • Thanks for sound advice - snag is, a pressure washer is damn heavy - it will cost a fortune to return it! I'm still going to be way out of pocket. Hmmmmmmmmm

Too big for collect+ but most couriers go up to 28kg, which should cover it - for less than a tenner.

I always thought accepting a parcial refund meant no further claim could be made. Learned soemthing new.

I think it's something like 80% of the price can be refunded before further claims are disallowed. (Soo would probably know.)

Probably to help against this sort of situation.
