capital one want my p60

Hi there all, this is my first time doing this so please forgive me if i make a bit of a mess, here goes.
In 2005 i apllied for a credit card with capital one. I received a phone call a few days later and after a few questions it was approved.
I was blissfully unaware of any ppi payments until my bank (hsbc) told me i would be better off doing a balance transfer to one of their accounts and also cancel my ppi payment to cap one. It turns out i had been paying £11 a month for 6 years without knowing.
I am claiming ppi from capital one and have sent first letter.
They have sent me a letter asking for a p60 from the year i had the card approved so they can check my income.
Thats the history; Heres the question; Do i have to send this info ?
Any help appreciated..... Thanks, Tony.

If they are asking for evidence on something you have stated then yes, they can ask for evidence.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I have learned alot since i got rid of the card.
I will send the info.

Why does your income form part of your claim? I'd imagine it wasn't relevant during the selling process, and they'd have the income you told them (which is more appropriate as that was all they'd have to go on) on the original application.0

Possibly to prove employer (if 6 months full, 6 months half pay being the reason)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
