If you did go for option 2, maybe collect some money in advance a month or two before. It will reduce the number of drop outs and spread the cost so that the month isn't so expensive.

My hen do is roughly 6 weeks before, because it made sense to have the August BH weekend. I would go with the first option.

I'd go for the first option, if you think it's too far in advance, could you have something small closer to the time as well as this? a meal out and a couple of drinks or if weather ok a bbq at someones house to keep costs down.

I agree with this - have the hen do in April and then if you want something closer to the time maybe a smaller gathering, perhaps with people that you're closer to or who you may not have invited to the hen do but would still like to celebrate with. Most of the hen dos I've been to have been about six weeks before the wedding so I don't think two months is too much more of a stretch.

    Another vote for option 1.

Seems a no-brainer to me. 2 months before is fine. I arranged my friend's hen weekend, that was 7 weeks before.:)

My sister had hers at the end of March and got married the beginning of June. It meant that with everything else that came up the closer the wedding got at least she didn't have a full weekend taken out of it. On the other hand the stags went 2 weeks before and she was furious as there was SOO much to sort out! (They were in a marquee doing their own drinks & flowers etc so not an easy task!)

Good luck whatever you choose, and congrats!

Another vote for option 1. It doesn't matter if it's a while in advance - the whole point is that it's a weekend that revolves around you, and gives your mates the chance to 1) show how muhc they love you and 2) do something to make you look a right wally/embarrass you completely!

More important is getting date in everyone's diaries as early as possible so they can save up if necessary :)

    Have a good one!

(I had mine in October half term and didn't get married till a week before Xmas. At least our hangovers had worn off ;) )

Mine is the 23rd of this month and I'm getting married 2nd June. Lots of people have said it's good that it's spread apart for budgeting, time off etc. and it means one of my bridesmaids can come because it's her uni holiday. OH's stag is in mid April too so early, so his best man can attend. So I'd go with option 1
