Its often a round a week from when you do the transfer (or from when the account is formally opened if you apply to do the transfer at the time of application). But it can occasionally take longer than this.

Its advised to continue to make a minimum payment on the card with a balance rather than assume that a balance transfer will go through by the due date for a card.

it depends on the CC company

The transfer itself is (almost) instant these days, so your question is really "how long will it take from card application to payment being made?"

In my experience it can be as little as 4 days, and as long as 4 weeks.

I'm guessing this won't help you though!

You need to say which card she's chosen to take the debt to get the best recent experiences, but I'd say 4 weeks to be on the safe side.

I'd consider applying in about a week, that will give her some time should the first application not be accepted or if there are any issues with them referring the application etc.
