Excel Mobile And Laptop

I'm currently doing the matched betting via the gambling loophole board. All the spreadsheets to make life easier are in excel. Ive just bought a Toshiba laptop running vista, but it doesnt come with excel, i do have a vario 2 mobile tho that does come with excel mobile. So the question is, is there anyway of me transferring the excel mobile program to my laptop so i can run the spreadsheets, if it is possible, will the spreadsheets run in excel mobile or is it just a cut down version of the full excel? I dont want to pay the £100 plus for the excel program. Or is it not possible and should i carry on doing it by pad and pen:cool:

Thanks

Unfortunately, I think you are out of luck. The Excel Mobile is designed for Windows Mobile based devices (PDA's, Phones, etc) and won't work on normal PC operating systems, so there is no way to use Excel Mobile on the laptop.

It is a cut down version of the full Excel, but this is ore to do with the fact that mobile devices don't have the processing power, memory, etc to run the PC version of Excel.

If you don;t want to shell out for a version of office, you could always try OpenOffice. It's a free alternative to MicroSoft Office and the majority of Excel features should work in it (formula's, etc although not macro's) and it will open Excel files. Have a look at: http://www.openoffice.org/ for more info.
  • or you can use the microsoft excel viewer if all you want to do is look.

I would use the PDA I have the SPV M3100 (same thing as the vario2) and excel is really easy to use, ther is also no longer a problem with converting from excel mobile ot excel same with word mobile.
