How many reward accounts can you make with Halifax?

I remember reading somewhere on this site that it was 3, but when trying to make another today, I was refused, the site seems to be down now as it just gives me a time out page.

So how many reward accounts can you open? I have 1 at the moment and wanted to open some more to get the £5 p/m if £1000 paid in.

It used to be 3 but they stopped that many iirc. Not sure how many it is now though.

It used to be 3, up until late 2009 if memory serves.

Now it's 2, but only one sole account...the other must be a joint account.

Those who got in early got 4 or 5 (:D). Others have been lucky and (say they) have bagged additional accounts since the new restriction.

Lucky for the people how opened multiple accounts!

So I could get my Girlfriend to open an account, then a shared, and bounce the same £1000 about to get the £5 free p/m for each account right?

What's the situation with a couple who have 3 each. Can they still have a joint one now as well?

You could, yes.

But whether you 'should' link your credit files is a different matter!

I wouldn't risk it personally.

If they decide to close the 'excess' accounts you'll be down £240 a year!

No I don't think I will risk it, was just curious.

We have a 'normal' old joint current account that we could have got changed to a Reward yonks ago but didn't at the time for some reason.
