Disputing 'Contravening a Red Light' offence
Hi,
Amidst a moment’s lack of concentration, I recently went through a red light. Never broken the law in any context before and I know some of you will think I deserve my fine and points etc (even though it was accidental and a late changing light).
However, I have received the NIP and it says Contravening a 'Road' light NOT Contravening a 'Red' Light. Is this an administrative error that may invalidate the NIP? Anyone more clued up on how the actual offence should appear?

Don't know the answer, but how can a light be "late changing"? Or do you really mean that you weren't paying attention and only noticed that it had changed to red when it was too late for you to stop? I think you should stop trying to wriggle out of an offence that could have caused you to kill someone legitimately going the other way, pay up and take your points.0

Kinda expected that one...is this Money Saving or Moral Education?!0

It's a typo, nothing more ...it will have no effect on the validty of the NIP, you can't really claim to have been misled by it.0

Op you might get a little more help from a site called pepipoo, they have a NIP Wizard where you enter your details and the forum users advise.
Yes what you did was naughty, but as you pointed out this site is about saving you money (plus I'm sure you've learnt your lesson and won't do it again)

I wouldn't be surprised at all if they're officially called road lights.
Then "Contravening a Road Light" would be valid for both a red light offence and the theoretical offence of being prosecuted on Amber if it can be shown you could have stopped safely for the Amber but went through anyway.
As said pepipoo is the way to go.0 -
The code is likely to be TS10 which is Failing to comply with traffic light signals.
The colour doesn't matter I don't think.0 -
