Multi-Purpose Steam Cleaners

Options
Little sis has always been pretty allergic to strong artificial smells such as floor cleaner, bleach, oven cleaner and the like. Do a little spring cleaning in the house and well ALL windows are open no matter what the weather!!

Anyway she has asked me to find out a little about steam cleaners thinking that the steam might substitute for a large proportion of the cleaners. Ideally she’d like them to be as multifunctional as possible ie be capable of cleaning hard floors like tiles and wood tiles, and also be able to steam clean some carpet. She would like to be ale to do the like of kitchen and bathroom wall tiles, and also be able to clean the likes of large double glazed windows and glass in the conservatory.

Which? my normal starting point offer five Best Buys: Bissell90T1-E (£60), MontissCSM5761M (£100),, Efbe-Schott Delta Head S HST 78Y (£34), Home-tek Light 'n' Easy HT838 (£60) Home-tek Light 'n' Easy HT839 (£60) all of which seem to work of flat surfaces.

From my reading of the Which? article the products just appear to be a replacement for your standard household mop, ok maybe they do a little more, but they are not really what I’m after.

Maybe there are more versatile or professional models available. At this point in time price is not the major factor absence of major headaches is and for that reason little sis is prepared to reach into her reserves. So anybody out there know of suitable products, or maybe two products.

The main aim is to clean with as few headaches as possible, price comes second.

Thanks for your comments and feel free to make other suggestions.

I have one but am not a fan. The biggest issue for me is the creation of humid air (as a bi-product) which causes condensation - so it stays in it's box.

For certain cleaning jobs, they are meant to be good but you have to be careful. Steaming a carpet will kill bugs but I am not certain it will 'clean' it.

Natural (ie. homemade) cleaners might be worth a look. There's a series on the box currently Scrimpers or something like that.

    Good luck.

Scrimpers, seen it. Not a bad program but to be honest some of their tips are pushing it a bit.
