Halifax Ultimate Reward Current account?

Hi, halifax have offered me a Ultimate Reward Current account but is it worth it? I have 2 htc sensation mobile phones, are they covered for lost or stolen and is there an access?

Also what is the value of the AA cover they offer?

Has anyone had and experience with them on claims, do you think its worth it?

  • Hi,

Only you can decide if it's worth it or not. It will cost you £180 a year (or £120 if you pay in £1k a month).

Can you get the extras it offers individually for less?

What do they want you to upgrade from? If you have the reward account you already get £5 a month so to upgrade from that you would lose that £5 so the real cost would then be £240 / £180

If you want to upgrade you really need to read what you are getting so you can compare the benefits.

  • I have that account, smashed my phone screen and it was fixed easily and within 3 working day (sent it on a Tuesday and got it back on the Friday).

£30 access for every phone except the iPhone which is £100.

But your only allowed one phone insured per account. Haven't used any of the other benefits, but have all my card protected, drivers licence and passport. So if I lose them they will help replace them.

I thought 2 mobile phones were covered, are lost phones covered? What's the home emergency cover about?

Well I was originally paying £12 for insurance anyway! and normally pay £1000 in after doing overtime so its cheaper than what I was originally paying for insurance.

Was worth it until the put the price up to £15/month.

    Well from the website:
A maximum of one phone per account
holder, or in the case of joint accounts, a
maximum of two phones per account.

Haven't had to use the Home Insurance, but if its like the phone insurance then it can't be bad.

Wow that seems expensive to me. I didn't realise phone insurance was that much.

I'm so glad I take care of my phone now!

  • Hey guys, I have recently moved in with my partner and he already had a Halifax Ultimate Reward Account, we have now had my name put on that account and so it is a joint account, I have just registered my mobile phone for the insurance, but was just wondering about the AA Breakdown cover, because it is a joint account will they cover both of our vehicles or just one? I had a look on the Halifax website but it says with the breakdown cover you are 'automatically registered' which he will be from when he opened the account, but I doubt I am as I have just been added on to the account and haven't been asked for any details of my car.

That's because the cover is for the customer, not the car...

"Breakdown assistance when you need it most. You're covered as a driver or a passenger in any eligible vehicle if you breakdown at home or on the roadside."
  • Oh yes of course, I was just wondering if I would be covered too with it being a Joint account, I didn't know if there was a one person rule as obviously we only pay one monthly fee but 2 of us on the account.
  • my phone is 3 (possibly 4) years old, would they still replace it with an equal market value new phone if it was lost for instance:question:
