Duplicate buildings insurance

When we originally took out our first mortgage on our flat 4 years ago, we were told by our lender that the buildings cover which we have pay to the maintenance company managing our block, was not acceptable because it did not mention us by name (only the maintenance company). So we took out the lenders' insurance which we have been paying ever since. This does not seem right. Were we mis advised and if so, is there any redress?

That does sound wrong. A lender ought to know this - so I think a complaint would be worth making.0
