Barclaycard claim, interest rate increased

As I have not got all my statements relating to my Barclaycard account I sent the initial letter requesting my T&C's I received a reply with a 'reconstituted copy or my credit agreement', this didn't mention any PPI and I know I definitely had PPI as I cancelled it a few years ago. I then replied with a £10 cheque asking for copies of my statements or a list of all charges levied on my account. I am still waiting for a reply before I send my Questionnaire.

Today I received a letter stating they were increasing my interest rate from 16.9% to 21.9%.

Is this normal? I am going to reject the rate increase and ask to pay off the debt at the existing rate. Does anyone know if I can pay monthly as I can't afford to pay all of the debt off immediately? Also will this affect my credit rating in any way (good or bad)?

Any help appreciated.
