New Customer help needed

I'll be moving in with my girlfriend next weekend and we'll need to set up new utilities accounts.
In terms of advice, who is cheapest? Most of the sites are comparison based on you having a bill to compare but we don't have a bill.
Any help would be appreciated
cheers

There is no 'cheapest'-it depends on consumption and region. Use average kWh figures based on your type of property and heating/hot water. It doesn't matter what current tariff you put in, the point is to get the comparative listings.
If you are moving into a new property then you are in a deemed contract with the existing suppliers, you must register with them first (and take readings on day one)before you can switch, which will take 4-5 weeks.
For water, you don't have any choice-register with the regional supplier. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Ok, question 2, how do i find out who the property is with now for gas and electricity?0
-
Google 'how to find my gas supplier' and 'how to find my electricity supplier'.
Should just require a phone call.
Or ask outgoing tenants/landlord?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I've done that and found out the Electricity Supply is with British Gas. When trying to find out about the gas supply I've hit a wall, they're using Royal Mail's PAF database and the flat isn't listed properly on there, so they can't tell who is supplying as they can't find the flat!
Same goes for Sky, the DVLA, Car insurance... Nightmare.
I've spoken to the LL, I just hope he moves quickly, I don't want to leave this to the last minute.0 -
That said, chances are the Gas will be with BG too. God knows why, they're hardly the cheapest.0

Can you get hold of the MPR number, that does not depend on a postcode.

I've left it with the LL, he's also meant to be sorting out the address issues too.0
