GAME set to go under? - Where does it leave us?

It's really not looking good for Game. They couldn't even afford stock of the PS Vita and had to sell them on behalf of Sony - Vita boxes from Game & Gamestation have stickers saying that they're the property of Sony until sold.
I would definitely buy something with your gift card ASAP before things get worse. A good bet would be PSN vouchers as you're likely to lose the least from selling them.0

One other point that may be important.
If you do decide to buy a console, partly paid with the vouchers, make sure that you pay the remainder of the price using a credit card and not a debit card.
Even if the card payment is only £1, you will then have "section 75" protection if the console was to go wrong and you were unable to return it to Game due to them having closed down.0

            Excellent point Shaun.0

In regards to your deposit, as long as you have your deposit reciept they will give you your money back (In whichever means you paid- If you paid with trade ins it will be store credit). Do it between the 1st and the 9th and they'll also add an extra £5 to your loyalty card.0

That's assuming that they are still trading.
If they fold and the stores don't open, there will be no one to give the money back, and if they go into administration, then it may be a long fight to get the refund back, and even then the refund isn't guaranteed.0

Gamestop are interesting in purchasing GAME but they will probably wait until they fall into Administration (if that happens). In which case they won't have to accept any gift vouchers, however if they intend on keeping the GAME brand they probably will continue accepting the Vouchers otherwise they will annoy a lot of potential customers of the new company.
