Thanks for the ideas folks. A gorgeous chocolate cake might be an idea but as she lives on her own a few cup cakes might be better. I thought of photos when they were mentioned for mothers day, but I think someone else is doing that. Does anyone have a good recipe for bath salts as my dd wants to make some for her. I have loads of empty jars and fancy bottles but can't think of anything to use them for except bath salts without spending money. B'day is this Wednesday so haven't left much time for planning and making things.

Well we've all been super busy posters!!!

Only £4 spent today from me on fruit and veg (well veg mainly!) so that should create a fair few meals :), oh and some rice.....

    must keep myself fed!
Day off tomorrow (argh!) might resolve not to leave the house all day and therefore spend no money.

Bit lack lustre has BF has disappointed me in the birthday stakes. Seems going on drinking on saturday for St Patricks is more important than taking me to see Sean Hughes (comedian) one night only, local threatre £12 a ticket for my birthday.......

I'd also like to point out that he is not, nor has ever been, Irish!Just likes the excuse

Awwwwwwwww I feel all warm and fluffy now.... seriously, thats cheered me up no end after useless boyfriend situation.

ooooooooooh legal spending...... i think mine would have to be blowing £10 on munchies for my cupboards........... I miss crisps............ and biscuits............ and muffins................... and all those things that are really bad for you but taste sooooooooo gooooooooooooooooood!

Also now thinking about a big mac after previous post, darn it!!!!

Oh just noticed I'm actually up on the day because GE Capital (the wonderful people that they are) have refunded me my money from overpayment on my old store account, £25 back in my pocket! and yes account is closed!!!!

    Thanks for the thought.
I'd be tempted to go alone, but I'm not sure a stand up comedy night is really a single girls best friend............

I have visions of being that joke that they always come back too

one question tho - are you socialising while doing this challenge? and if yes, how are you managing to do this without spending money?

winkle1, in a word, NO!! and it's really really difficult! i'm lucky enough to have a job where we're invited to a few free nights out ... just none have come up recently. but even so, they're often in central london which means me having to get a travel card which costs around £7 so not such a free night out in the end (i know £7 isn't a lot for a free night but it is when you've taken up this challenge!!!).

i'm finding not socialising really difficult because i'm constantly being asked out by my friends and even though they're all fully aware that i'm struggling to save for my wedding next year and pay off debts at the same time, they keep asking me out.

reading this back, this really doesn't sound like anything to moan about but i feel like i'm forever having to make up excuses as to why i can't go out rather than say i can't afford it .... i get bored hearing myself saying it!!

    anyway, rant over.

am finding that re-reading all the Harry Potters before book 7 is released is keeping me very occupied so not missing my mates as i've got 3 new ones!!:rotfl:
