Payment dates

Does anyone know how easy it is to change a payment date on a CC?

Also, if I say, pay a little more than the minimum on the payment due date, then pay the full balance off the next day (when I get paid), so before my next statement is due, will they still charge me interest on it?

First month that this has ever happened - usually my pay date is before my CC due date but Easter's mucking things up a bit.

Also, if they are going to charge interest, is it worth perhaps getting a PDL for 1 day only (until I get my lovely £1600 bonus) if it's cheaper than paying interest, since the PDL will definitely be paid off the next day.

And does a satisfied PDL scupper your credit rating?

For the last 6-7 months, my CC has been paid off in full every month, so I don't really want it to slip back now.

ETA: Without my wages, I can pay about 75% of the CC balance from my savings, then just put that back into my account - it's just the whole balance that I can't do until I get paid!

It varies - ring them and ask

Yes, you will be charged interest from the statement date on the outstanding amount until the day it is paid off.

Can you arrange a short term overdraft to cover the other 25%?
Has to be better than a PDL.

without knowing the figures... but it's likely that simply paying the interest will be much much better than getting a PDL
  • Fair enough - I was just thinking about it from a 'building credit' idea of having more satisfied borrowing against my name.

It's no real biggie - my husband will quite happily loan me the cash until the next day, so I'll probably do that instead.
