Replacement started failed 8months on - replacement/labour?
Just had the aa man out as car would not start, starter bit going over just clicking. Aa man pointed to starter, it's getting power and batts fine. Bump started me so I could drive to garage.
Started was replaced with new one back in June last year, luckly I found my receipt.
The part should have a 1 year guarantee/warranty but what about the labour, do I have to pay this or can the garage claim this back from the parts supplier for faulty parts?
Thanks
Pody

Did the original garage that fitted the replacement starter 'supply & fit' the part, or just fit a part you supplied?
Have you taken your car back to the same garage?
If they 'supplied and fitted' the part and provided a 12 month guarantee then usually they will replace free of charge (unless the guarantee terms specifically excluded labour)
If not, you are probably stuffed since all you can expect is to ask to have the failed part returned leaving you to sort out any warranty you think you may have on the part. The garage will charge you for supplying & fitting the new starter.
Whats more, starters are usually charged on a replacement basis (i.e. the price you pay includes giving the old one back)
If you don't give the old one back, expect to pay an extra £25-£50 for the outright purchase of a new part.
(Also I guess any part warranty would be on a replacement basis rather than a refund)"Now to trolling as a concept. .... What is the car? Do you get any rattling sounds when the engine is at idle?
There is a chance that the Dual Mass Flywheel may be failing. Metal particles from the failing DMF can be attracted to the magnets in the starter.0 -
Thats why its not always a good idea to source your own parts, If you had supplied the parts then the labour would be down to you.
They supplied the parts and labour so its down to them to fix it.
No mention of what car though so the above post about DMF's could be an issue in which case the warranty is probably no longer valid.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

How do you know that the vehicle has a duel mass flywheel?Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0 -
The AA dropped the car off at this garage back in June. Was told at the time 1year warranty on replacement starter - benifit of not going reconditioned.
Had call late yesterday, fixed FOC, went to pick it up and owner was very helpful, new part comes with new 1yr warranty.
